New Costs
In November 2006 BT Wholesale (BTW) notified all ISPs of their intention to introduce a cease charge of £33.75 (£39.66 incl. VAT) for ADSL lines cancelled from May 1st 2007. It is unlikely that representations from the ISP community will change BTW's position on this and we are expecting to be given formal notification of the introduction of this charge on Tuesday 3rd of April. Consequently we have no alternative but to pass this charge onto our customers from May 1st 2007. This charge is not applied to End Users migrating to IPStream, DataStream or an LLU service.
Please note that if you change your BT PSTN phone line in any way e.g. name, phone number or address details it causes BT to automatically cease your ADSL service, generating a cancellation charge of £33.75 (£39.66 incl.VAT). You will then need to pay a reconnection fee. If you wish to move house you will need to cease and re-provide your service, this will generate a charge of £33.75 (£39.66 incl.VAT) and a reconnection charge.
Updated Acceptable Use Policy
As you may already know ADSL is a contended service and therefore must carry some form of acceptable or fair use policy. In recent weeks this has become a popular discussion point and policies with vague guidelines have come under fire.
In response to this we have re-clarified our Acceptable Use Policy on the website to make our stance clear.
In summary we do not generally expect users to exceed 50GB of data transfers in a month. Heavy users with a usage between 50GB and 100GB will be placed into a restricted daytime context to protect our business traffic, the restriction will take the form of an increased contention of 50:1 between 0800 and 1800 on weekdays. Users exceeding 100GB of data transfer will generally be regarded as not suited to ADSL products and will be encouraged to switch to a higher use product such as SDSL or a leased line, in the meantime they will be placed in an all-hours restricted context at 50:1 contention.
